Teresa Veiga Furtado é artista, professora auxiliar no Departamento de Artes Visuais e Design da Escola de Artes da Universidade de Évora (CHAIA/UÉ), membro integrado do Centro de História de Arte e Investigação Artística da UÉ e membro associado do Centro Interdisciplinar de Ciências Sociais da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (CICS.NOVA/NOVA FCSH). As suas áreas de investigação são a Arte e os Estudos de Género. Licenciada em Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa, Mestre em Printmaking pelo Royal College of Art, em Londres e Doutorada em Sociologia pela NOVA FCSH com a tese “Videoarte de Mulheres: Nossos Corpos, Nós Mesmas. Corpo, Identidade e Autodeterminação nas Obras de Videoartistas Influenciadas pelos Feminismos”. Foi curadora e organizadora de vários projectos, entre eles, a mostra “Vídeo e Género” no âmbito do ciclo “Gender Trouble”, no Teatro Maria Matos, e da mostra “Género na Arte. Corpo, Sexualidade, Identidade, Resistência”, com Aida Rechena, no Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea - Chiado.

Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, Master in Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in London and PhD in Sociology from NOVA FCSH with the thesis "Women's Art: Our Bodies, Ourselves. Body, Identity and Self-Determination in the Works of Videoartists Influenced by Feminisms". She was curator and organizer of several projects, among them the "Video and Gender" exhibition within the scope of the "Gender Trouble" cycle, at the Maria Matos Theatre, and the exhibition "Gender in Art. Body, Sexuality, Identity, Resistance", with Aida Rechena, at the The National Museum of Contemporary Art - Chiado.
